Buying a property in Crete couldn't be simpler. Whether
you're thinking of a permanent move to Crete, looking for
a holiday home, or buying as an investment, there has never
been a better time to buy. If you are a citizen of the European
Community you are free to live, work, study and purchase
property in Crete.
The southernmost of the Greek islands, Crete is also the
largest measuring more than 250 kms in length. With four
mountain ranges running from west to east and a vast variety
of flora and fauna, visitors and residents have endless
opportunities for walking and trekking.

The island is also rich in history and tradition, being
home to Europe's earliest known civilisation, the Minoans
and famous as the birthplace of Zeus. Scattered across the
island, you will find many ancient monastries, palaces and
classical sites from the Greek, Byzantine, Roman, Venetian
and Ottoman periods. This is, of course, in addition to the
island's many beaches and secluded little coves.
Crete's climate is Mediterranean with relatively mild winters,
(though there is often snow on the high peaks),and hot dry
summers. Even in the hottest months of July and August though,
the heat is tempered on the north coast by the Meltemi winds.
Crete is a cosmopolitan island with a well developed infrastructure.
There are regular direct flights to Chania and Heraklion
from many European destinations throughout the summer months
(May-October) and via Athens throughout the year. There
are also regular ferry connections to and from Piraeus and
the other islands.
